    What are the parameters used for assessing the sustainability of a company in the steel sector? Read the insight for further details.

     According to a survey by Siderweb, one of the main references in the steel market, environmental impact in our sector is an important variable when choosing a supplier.

    At Al. Fa. Laminati we are fully aware of the importance of the environmental impact of the ferroalloys we sell, so for years we have adopted responsibly managed logistics and we select our suppliers carefully to deliver more sustainable products to Italian foundries and iron and steel companies.

    What does this actually mean?

    Here are the 2 parameters for the sustainability of iron and steel companies that we have also transposed within our ferroalloy supply process.

     

    1-  Sustainable use of energy resources

    The extraction of raw materials and the production of steel requires a huge amount of energy which, if not managed methodically, risks being dispersed into the atmosphere.

    At Al.Fa. Laminati we purchase raw materials from trusted suppliers who manage extraction responsibly and we are committed to reducing the energy consumption of our plant activities with small daily actions that, in the long run, can make a difference.

    2-  Co2 emissions

    Reducing Co2 emissions is a matter of some concern to us, as our ferroalloys are transported by road to our screening centres and from there to our customers’ premises.

    Over the years, we have reduced CO2 emissions by means of efficient logistics that optimise transport, thereby reducing the number of journeys made, noise pollution and, of course, air pollution emitted by our business activities.

    In addition, we provide our customers with a document certifying the Co2 emissions generated by the use of the ferroalloys we sell, so as to allow foundries and

    iron and steel companies to monitor their emissions and comply with the environmental sustainability parameters envisaged by the Kyoto Emission Trading regulation.

    The trading and use of ferroalloys can have devastating effects on our Planet, if not handled methodically and carefully.

    Da un sondaggio fatto da Siderweb, uno dei principali riferimenti nel mercato dell’acciaio, anche nel nostro settore l’impatto ambientale è una variabile importante per la scelta di un fornitore.

    In Al. Fa. Laminati conosciamo l’importanza dell’impatto ambientale delle ferroleghe che rivendiamo, per questo già da anni abbiamo implementato una logistica gestita in modo responsabile e selezioniamo i nostri fornitori con attenzione per dare a fonderie e siderurgie italiane prodotti a impatto ridotto.

    Cosa significa nel concreto?

    Ecco i 3 parametri individuati da Siderweb per definire la sostenibilità delle aziende e come li abbiamo recepiti all’interno del nostro processo di fornitura delle ferroleghe.

     

    1- L’uso consapevole delle risorse energetiche

    L’estrazione delle materie prime e la produzione di acciaio richiede una gran quantità di energia che, se non viene gestita con metodo, rischia di disperdersi nell’atmosfera. In Al.Fa. Laminati acquistiamo materie prime da fornitori fidati che gestiscono l’estrazione in modo responsabile e ci impegniamo a ridurre i consumi energetici della nostra attività con piccole azioni quotidiane che, sul lungo periodo, possono fare la differenza.

     

    2- Le emissioni di Co2

    La riduzione delle emissioni di Co2 è un argomento che ci riguarda da vicino, visto che le nostre ferroleghe vengono trasportate su gomma fino ai nostri centri di vagliatura e da lì nelle sedi dei nostri clienti.

    Negli anni abbiamo ridotto le emissioni di Co2 attraverso la logistica Kanban che ottimizza i trasporti, riducendo così il numero di viaggi effettuati, l’inquinamento acustico e, ovviamente, l’inquinamento atmosferico dato dalla nostra attività.

     

    3- La politica sui rifiuti

    La sostenibilità riguarda tutto il ciclo di vita di un prodotto, per questo tra i parametri presi in considerazione da Siderweb c’è anche il corretto smaltimento dei prodotti di scarto. In Al.Fa. Laminati attuiamo un processo controllato secondo gli standard UNI ISO 9001 dal 2003 e la corretta gestione dei rifiuti caratterizza la nostra attività da oltre 20 anni.

    Il commercio di ferroleghe, se non è gestito con metodo e attenzione, può avere effetti devastanti sul nostro Pianeta.

    Ferroleghe, la ripresa è attesa nel quarto trimestre

    Sono 3 i motivi che ci spingono a credere in una ripresa del mercato delle ferroleghe nei prossimi mesi. Scoprili nel nostro approfondimento.

     In Al.Fa. Laminati conosciamo bene i mercati siderurgici e teniamo sotto controllo le dinamiche del settore per aiutare i nostri clienti a programmare le loro forniture anche sulla base delle tendenze stagionali.

    Durante l’estate appena trascorsa, per esempio, abbiamo notato una flessione della domanda di ferroleghe, ma questa flessione non ci ha preoccupato perché sappiamo che è stata del tutto fisiologica. Durante i mesi estivi le produzioni calano e con esse la richiesta di materie prime, ma  prossimi mesi la domanda ricomincerà a crescere e non di poco. Ecco perché.

     

    La tutela del mercato siderurgico

    Nel 4° trimestre 2023 ci aspettiamo un aumento della richiesta di ferroleghe da parte del mercato italiano e questa previsione è supportata da una serie di fattori che hanno caratterizzato l’intero settore siderurgico negli ultimi mesi.

    Le politiche a tutela delle produzioni locali, infatti, hanno ridotto l’acquisto di materie prime da partner stranieri, favorendo la collaborazione tra aziende produttive e fornitori di ferroleghe con sede in Italia. Come Al.Fa. Laminati, quindi, possiamo ben pensare che nei prossimi mesi le nostre collaborazioni con fonderie e siderurgie italiane siano destinate a crescere.

     

    Costi stabili per le ferroleghe

    Un altro aspetto che ci fa ben sperare sull’andamento del quarto trimestre è l’oscillazione dei costi delle materie prime. Dopo periodi molto altalenanti, oggi il costo delle ferroleghe si è stabilizzato, permettendo alle aziende produttive di fare investimenti a medio periodo e di organizzare le forniture con maggior anticipo. Questo per noi si traduce in collaborazioni più costanti e durature.

     

    La nostra logistica integrata

    I successi che ci aspettiamo nei prossimi mesi sono dettati anche dalla nostra efficienza interna che permette ai clienti di pianificare le proprie forniture senza sovraccaricare il magazzino. Con la logistica integrata, l’iter produttivo dei nostri clienti è più snello, più costante e le aziende possono così dedicarsi alla loro attività senza la paura di restare senza materie prime.

    Sebbene ci sia stata una leggera diminuzione della domanda nei mesi appena trascorsi, quindi, siamo fiduciosi nel futuro e certi che nei prossimi mesi la nostra azienda possa raggiungere gli obiettivi che si è posta per il 2023.

     At Al.Fa. Laminati we know the iron and steel markets well and we monitor the dynamics of the industry to help our customers schedule their supplies also based on seasonal trends.

    Over the past summer, for example, we witnessed a decrease in demand for ferroalloys, but this trend did not worry us because we know it was entirely physiological. During the summer months, production drops and consequently demand for raw materials does too, but in the coming months demands will start to rise again with rather significant numbers. Here’s why.

     

    The protection of the iron and steel market

    In the 4th quarter of 2023 we expect to see an increase in the demand for ferroalloys on the Italian market and this forecast is supported by a number of factors that have characterised the entire iron and steel sector in recent months.

    Policies to protect local productions have, in fact, reduced the purchase of raw materials from foreign partners, encouraging the collaboration between manufacturing companies and suppliers of ferroalloys based in Italy. As Al.Fa. Laminati, therefore, we can estimate that in the coming months our collaborations with Italian foundries and iron and steel companies are destined to grow.

     

    Stable costs for ferroalloys

    Another aspect that builds our confidence in our 4th quarter performance is the fluctuation in raw material costs. After a few rather rocky periods, the cost of ferroalloys has now stabilised, allowing manufacturing enterprises to make medium term investments and organise supplies with longer lead times. For us, this means more consistent and lasting collaborations.

     

    Our integrated logistics

    The success we strive to achieve in the coming months is also driven by our in-house efficiency, which allows customers to schedule their supplies without overloading the warehouse. Our integrated logistics, streamlines the production processes of our customers, making them more lean, more consistent and allows companies to focus on their business activities without fear of being left without raw materials.

    Although there was a slight decrease in demand in the past few months, we are hopeful for the future and confident that in the coming months our company will achieve its 2023 targets.
